  Hey gang,
I am curious as to the current sonography job market around the country. I am graduating eleven students in Aug. and the Houston ultrasound job markey is no doupt in a mild slump. There are jobs but they are fewer and farther between.
Whats it like in your area as of late?
I think we would all like to know.

There's a couple of jobs in the Tampa area. Not too many though. The big system is Baycare.org and Tampa General tgh.org there are also smaller places like Bayfront. Heading down Sarasoto to Naples there are often one or two jobs on offer.
In Buffalo, NY there ain't much happening. Posts:

  Hi Everyone,
How is everyone doing? I am currently out of a job, and I am looking at every job site possible. What I have been noticing is that they want "Whole body ultrasound techs" meaning echo, vascular, and general, AND to be registered. And sometimes they want them to be registered in abd, ob-gyn, and even breast. That's great if people have all those credentials, and what I was wondering is are these super techs being compensated well? If thats what they companies want it makes it hard for others to get a job. Is this becoming the new thing companies are looking for?
Thank you!! Posts:

The Vascular Registry (RVT) is required for reimbursement in many states.
...if you are not ARDMS registered...you are unlikely to be employed again any time soon..if ever...
Oh ok, thank you very much. I am registered in abdomen . Posts:

It means you have no set hours or shifts, just filling in for people being off, calling in sick, maternity, etc. Usually doesn't guarantee any hours or schedule. You're just extra staff as needed at their convenience. Posts:
